NYAS (National Youth Advocacy Service) is a leading rights-based charity that ensures children and young people receive the best possible help and support when needed.

NYAS’ core work involves providing high quality advocacy and/or legal representation for children and young people who may be in care, subject to child protection plans or have mental health issues across England and Wales.

The charity’s role is to listen to what children and young people want, care about what they say and empower them to get their voices heard. NYAS ensures their wishes and feelings are expressed and acted upon to improve their situation and help them build a better future.

Artemis has been providing first class support to NYAS for a number of years. Emma and her team have been instrumental in setting up and developing key business relations for NYAS as well as identifying and pursuing many opportunities for awareness raising of NYAS. Through a selection of thought-through business connections, Emma has helped NYAS to secure just under £500,000,00 of unrestricted funding.

Connecting a UK Fund Management Group to a national children’s charity

National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS), a national children’s charity, has experienced at first hand the value of Artemis’ connections when UK fund management group Miton selected NYAS as its charity partner for four years.

The partnership ran from 2014 – 2018 and resulted in Miton giving over £80,000 to the charity through a combination of fundraising initiatives and donations. Artemis is delighted to report that Miton has recently renewed this partnership for a further three years.

Charity Launch at the House of Commons

Artemis was delighted to have coordinated and hosted the launch event of the National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS) young person’s app at the House of Commons.

The app was created by a team of students from Edge Hill University, who designed the application to make NYAS’s advocacy services more accessible to children in care and care leavers.

Over 100 supporters were brought together at the event which included guest speakers NYAS CEO Rita Waters, Tanya Bryron, Chancellor at Edge Hill University, Sir James Munby and President of the Family Division of the High Court of England and Wales.

Artemis was also delighted to support and work with a number of care leavers who spoke at the event; providing accounts of their own experience of being in care and how NYAS has supported them.

Guests included members of parliament, commissioners, supporters and representatives from the children’s services and legal and judicial sectors.

The Artemis team managed all aspects of the event. This included coordinating the guest list, researching and managing the venue and briefing and providing content to the guest speakers.

The event resulted in significant coverage for the charity and renewed awareness amongst its supporters.
